CAN PROMOTES THE “CAMINOS ANDINOS” INITIATIVE TO BOOST TOURISM RECOVERY
Boosting Tourism and Regional Unity
The Andean Community countries (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru) approved the “Caminos Andinos” project, led by Ecuador, to boost regional integration and economic recovery through tourism. The initiative promotes multi-destination tourism with a regional brand, a microsite, and routes highlighting the cultural, natural, gastronomic, and community richness of the Andes. Key routes include Lake Titicaca, Uyuni Salt Flats, and Sajama in Bolivia; El Dorado Legend and Pasto–Ibarra in Colombia; the Andean Community Tourism Network and “Undiscovered Ecuador” in Ecuador; and the Moche and Pisco routes plus Amazonas and Arequipa in Peru. Authorities emphasize that this resilient post-pandemic project will strengthen Andean identity and create positive economic, social, and environmental impact.
